A world of gastronomy, art and unique adventures awaits passengers at Singapore Changi International Airport

Arts and culture are thriving elements of Changi Airport. A collection of specially commissioned art pieces and installations includes the world's largest kinetic art sculpture, comprising 1,216 bronze droplets that transform into 16 different shapes.

SINGAPORE – Passengers and visitors can always look forward to an enjoyable experience at Singapore Changi Airport – the world’s most awarded airport. Constantly rethinking the transit experience for today’s savvy global traveller resides at the heart of Changi – which is the world’s sixth busiest airport for international traffic – has garnered more than 460 awards. The recent Best Airport awards wins are Skytrax’s 2014 World Airport Awards, an award which Changi has won for the second year in a row, and the 2014 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Airport Award.
 
This collection of prestigious titles recognizes that Changi provides world-leading airport services for guests at its three terminals. Adults and children have so many remarkable experiences to enjoy, with an innovative array of facilities for relaxation and wellness, diverse entertainment, shopping and dining venues, complimentary Internet access and even a free Singapore Tour.
 
The globally acclaimed Changi Experience ranges from the exciting Slide@T3 – the tallest indoor slide in an airport – to the educational Changi Aviation Gallery, featuring Changi Airport’s operations and history. For travellers in need of physical rejuvenation or relaxation, the airport offers a rooftop swimming pool overlooking the runway, a fully equipped gym, and free foot massage machines to soothe travel-weary feet.
 
World-class dining and shopping is offered across all three terminals. A selection of 120 food and beverage venues serves a diverse range of Singaporean, Asian and international cuisines, and 350 retail and services stores provide shoppers with everything from basic essentials to premium products by the world’s top brands. Shopping at Changi can be fun and rewarding. A year-round program of events and promotions include Changi Millionaire, an annual competition premiered in 2010 in which one lucky passengerwins SGD1 million. Changi Airport also has a loyalty programme – Changi Rewards – for its shoppers. Shoppers can accumulate points as they spend at the airport, and these points can be redeemed for vouchers or Singapore Airline‘s KrisFlyer miles. Also, several retailers have chosen Changi to launch product exclusives, including the world-first premiere of SKII products at the perfumes and cosmetics stores, and DFS’ Masters of Spirits events, featuring rare and exquisite wines.
 
Well-travelled minds can switch off and unwind at high-tech entertainment centers, including a free movie theater and LAN gaming and Xbox® Kinect consoles, plus cosy music corners and TV lounges. Staying connected is easy with more than 550 complimentary Internet terminals and airport-wide free Wi-Fi, plus more than 850 electrical points for recharging phones, laptops and portable devices.
 
Communing with nature is the perfect way for families to relax and share quality time together. Visitors can take a stroll through one of Changi’s five beautifully landscaped themed gardens, including the Cactus Garden at Terminal 1, the Enchanted Garden, Orchid Garden and Sunflower Garden at Terminal 2, and the Butterfly Garden featuring more than 1,000 butterflies at Terminal 3.

Other highlights include Daisy, a 13-meter-high installation by US artistChristian Moeller combining a fiberglass propeller with red with white tips (Singapore’s national colors) and a robotic arm mounted on a pedestal. Arriving passengers will easily spot Chinese artistHan Mei Ling’s 7.5-meter family sculpture cast in steel, bronze and gold, and a carved sandstone art wall at Terminal 3 has welcome messages in 16 languages.
 
Looking ahead, Changi Airport will continue to redefine the travel experience. Changi Airport currently has three main terminals and construction of new Terminal 4 (T4) is underway. Scheduled to open in 2017, the terminalwill have capacity for 16 millionannual passengers. Surrounded by lush vertical landscaping and an impressive double-storey glazed facade, the vibrant interior with feature skylight lanterns, green walls and an abundance of elegant tall trees growing beneath the natural light. The enhanced travel experience at T4 will encompass self-service initiatives for speedier check-in, bag tagging and bag drops, exciting retail and dining outlets, plus an expanded lounge for premium passengers.
 
Planning for Singapore’s brighter, busier air transport future also includes the expansion of Terminal 1.The new facility will offer passengers and visitors a wider range of travel-related services and facilities, exciting attractions, as well as attractive retail and lifestyle offerings.
Construction for Project Jewel will begin this year andis slated for completion in 2018.  An entirely new Changi project is also under development. Masterplanning for Changi East, which includes Terminal 5, has started and  the mega-terminal will be able to handle 50 million passenger movements per annum (mppa). When Terminal 5 starts operations in the mid-2020s, Changi Airport will have five terminals with a combined capacity of 135 mppa.
