Argo Travel and the Greece-Thailand Center at the 15th Thai International Travel Fair

The Argo Travel Group presented Greece to prospective Thai tourists for the second consecutive time at the TITF, this time working in collaboration with sixteen Thai travel agencies.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Argo Travel Group announces the official launch of its collaboration with the Greece-Thailand Center (GTC) at the 15th Thai International Travel Fair (TITF) for outbound tourism.

The GTC was created when sixteen Thai outbound tourism travel agencies came together in a joint effort to sell package holidays. The aim of the GTC is to engage in joint marketing and promotion strategies to establish Greece as a holiday destination for Thai tourists.

The Argo Travel Group has undertaken to support the GTC and provide all services comprising the package holidays to Greece and neighbouring destinations such as Turkey, Egypt, Italy, etc., with Egypt Air as the preferred carrier.

Special packages introducing Greece both as a single destination and in conjunction with neighbouring countries were presented by the GTC at the Argo Travel Group booth at the TITF. The response was extremely positive and a significant number of travellers made bookings at the Fair.

Our Travel Group recognises the significant growth of the ASEAN region, which is expected to peak with the establishment of the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) on January 1st, 2016, and has invested in the development of inbound tourism from Southeast Asia since 2013, utilising the resources of Travel Media Applications. The objective of the Argo Travel Group is to offer quality and innovative tourism products to the Thai market and other markets in southeast Asia, which will meet the requirements of travellers in each country,” said Mr Diamantis Pithis, Argo Travel Group Director.

The zeal exhibited by the GTC travel agencies in promoting Greece was awe inspiring. The synergies that emerged during the TITF generated a strong turnout at our booth that was directly reflected in actual sales. The holidays promoted have been booked and deposit payments have already been received. Moreover, independent travel agencies are continually expressing a strong interest in selling our tourism product, generating the hope that the market has unlimited potential. The fact that Thai Airways ceased in offering direct flights to our country two years ago does not seem to have created an obstacle to the increased demand for Greece, as the airlines offering connecting flights between Bangkok and Athens are continually increasing in number, giving travellers multiple options,” added Mr Stratis Voursoukis, Sales and Marketing Manager of the Argo Travel Group at the TITF.

The campaign to increase the flow of tourists from Thailand and Southeast Asia to Greece through the Argo Travel Group is being implemented by Travel Media Applications, which specialises in marketing and communications services to the tourism industry and operates several news websites, including TravelDailyNews Asia-Pacific, which is based in Bangkok.

The establishment of the GTC and the eagerness expressed by other travel agencies in Thailand to promote Greece as an independent holiday destination and as part of tours of other countries indicates the dynamic presence our country has in these markets. The only factor limiting outgoing tourism to Greece was the lack of information and support to Thai travel agencies from official tourism organisations and private corporations. This is the exact service our company has been offering in these markets since early 2012. The Argo Travel Group has observed the dynamic of the Southeast Asian markets and is a strategic partner and important associate in this effort. With over 60 years of experience in tourism, the Argo Travel Group is an important ambassador to our country,” reported Mr Theodore Koumelis, founder of TMA, from Bangkok.
