Marriott Executive Apartments Mayfair and IUCN, together for community-based conservation and development in Thailand

Marriott Executive Apartments Mayfair gives hands to protect environment and support Thailand’s local communities through mangrove reforestation.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – As part of Marriott’s “Spirit to Preserve” global commitment to sustainability, Marriott Executive Apartments Mayfair and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) join hands to protect the environment and support local communities through mangrove reforestation, the use of sustainable seafood sources and local procurement practices, and one of the activities is to planting mangroves at Bang Krachao, often described as “the lung of Bangkok”.

Planting mangroves is more than just a goodwill effort. Not only do Thailand’s mangrove forests serve as a haven for biodiversity and carbon collection, they also protect the coastline from severe storms and sea-level rise. Over the past 40 years, more than half of the country’s mangroves have been destroyed, and the hotel is partnering with IUCN to reverse the damage.

Guests can contribute to the reforestation efforts by making a donation of 30 THB per night while staying the hotel.
