Hainan Airlines personalises online experience with Amadeus

Hainan Airlines renews Amadeus e-Retail agreement to power global online sales, and signs up for Amadeus e-Personalise and Award Shopper to deliver a unique online shopping experience for travellers.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Hainan Airlines, the largest private carrier in China, announces it will continue to power its online ‘looking and booking’ experience with next generation e-Commerce solutions from Amadeus, the leading technology partner for the global travel industry.

The contract renewal ensures Hainan Airlines will continue to benefit from Amadeus e-Retail, the world’s most widely-used airline Internet booking engine. The airline offers customers across the globe the ability to book flights and travel products in their native language and currency thanks to Amadeus. Amadeus has supported Hainan Airlines’ international growth strategy since 2008, enabling customers across the world to efficiently and conveniently book their tickets in more than 30+ languages.

Hainan Airlines will also enhance its online experience with Amadeus Award Shopper. Hainan customers will be able to redeem their frequent flyer miles online and also buy tickets using a combination of miles and cash. These new tools will enable the airline to seamlessly manage their loyalty programme.

Hainan Airlines has also deployed Amadeus e-Personalise to make every shopping experience unique for customers. Completely flexible, the solution takes all available passenger information and evaluates it in real-time, within the context of each customer visit, to make the Hainan Airlines site unique to each individual visitor. Travellers will now benefit from bespoke recommendations and access to a far wider range of travel options than ever before, based on their specific interests.

Mr Hou Wei, Vice President, Hainan Airlines said that one of the deciding factors in extending their partnership with Amadeus was the complete flexibility and customisation of its e-Commerce offering, from the booking flow to the end user interface.

Mr Hou Wei added, “We recognise that a robust online strategy is critical to supporting our growth ambitions. As we continue to expand our operations domestically and internationally, we recognise the need to step up our game to ensure we give customers exactly what they want, and on the platform they engage with the most.”

Hazem Hussein, EVP, Airline Commercial, Amadeus Asia Pacific added, “With China set to become the world’s largest outbound travel market this year, and the biggest domestic market by 2017, there are many opportunities for airlines operating out of, and into China. Personalisation is a key differentiator for airlines and a key part of an airline’s digital sales strategy.”

“Amadeus is proud to provide the technology that helps carriers like Hainan Airlines to exceed customers’ expectations and secure loyalty while increasing revenue,” added Hussein.
