LOS ANGELES – EVA Air took delivery of three brand-new Boeing 777-300ERs and increased North American service, adding flights on Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver routes and boosting its frequency to Taipei, Taiwan by 22 percent. It has begun introducing Sky Wi-Fi, short-message roaming and a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment systems (IFE) aboard its newest aircraft. With the expanded capacity and services, EVA offers passengers greater convenience and more flights between North America and Taiwan with more onward connections to more destinations throughout Asia than any other airline. Demand from business travelers has grown since EVA joined Star Alliance in June 2013. Not only are more business passengers flying the airline from North America to Southeast Asia and China via its Taipei, Taiwan hub but more are also booking the airline’s luxurious Royal Laurel Class business cabin.
EVA began flying its three brand-new aircraft in rotation with its first-generation Boeing 777-300ERs earlier this summer and now operates 18 on long-haul routes, including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Toronto to Taipei. It added the services to/from existing gateways over several weeks in June and July:
– Los Angeles up from 17 flights per week to three daily,
– New York from five a week to daily flights,
– San Francisco from 12 to 14 flights each week,
– Toronto from three to four flights a week and
– Vancouver from three to four flights weekly.
Fixed in its commitment to quality service, EVA upgraded its newest aircraft with Panasonic’s latest-generation eX3 IFE in addition to the Sky Wi-Fi, short-message roaming and more. It configured the planes in three cabins consistent with its first-generation 777-300ERs, Economy Class, Elite premium economy and Royal Laurel.
Every passenger on EVA’s three newest 777s can access Sky Wi-Fi to send and receive e-mails, use instant messaging APPs and check in on social media as soon as the aircraft reaches 20,000 feet.
EVA enhanced its IFEs with high-resolution monitors and multi-touch technology, similar to that used on iPads, Surfaces and other devices. It enlarged Economy and Elite Class premium economy monitors from 9 to 11.1 inches. And it equipped Royal Laurel with 16-inch screens and AV-control handsets that have 4-inch LCD panels, enabling top-cabin business-class passengers to simultaneously play video games and execute seat-back screen functions.
North America is a major market for EVA. In addition to Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver, EVA operates five flights a week from Seattle. It links an international network of major destinations worldwide, including dozens of cities in China and throughout Asia, in addition to the many connections available through other Star Alliance members.
