CCB-IC sets its sites on Indonesian incentive travel

In order to increase its international competitiveness the Chiba Convention Bureau and International Center (CCB-IC) will be targeting not only conventions, but incentive travel as well.

As part of this new strategy, the CCB-IC will be attending more business meetings and trade shows. As a first step the CCB-IC went to Jakarta and attended the Astindo Fair 2014, presented at an associated seminar held by the Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) and Japan National Travel Organization (JNTO), and held a seminar of its own. Visitors from Indonesia to Japan topped 100 thousand last year, and Indonesia has gained attention as a growing market.

This year the CCB-IC is starting a new initiative to gather information on incentive travel and increase the number of visitors to Chiba Prefecture.

As part of that initiative the CCB-IC attended the Astindo Fair 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia. To help raise awareness of the Chiba brand, the CCB-IC also held a separate seminar for large companies dealing with incentive travel called the “Welcome to Chiba Seminar“.

The number of visitors to Japan from Southeast Asia is increasing, and the national government has waved visa requirements for travelers from the area. Indonesia is the one of the most populated of the ASEAN countries. Within Chiba Prefecture, the number of hotels and other facilities that are beginning to serve halal food is also increasing. In January the first halal food processing plant in Japan was completed in Chiba City. Chiba is open in Southeast Asia.

The CCB-IC will be watching market trends and working with both international and domestic organizations to put knowledge gained at the Astindo Fair 2014 to good use and bring incentive travelers to Chiba Prefecture.
