GTA roadshow helps Asian hoteliers benefit from 30% increase in South Korean bookings

GTA’s Head of Sourcing for Asia, the fifth annual event is also the biggest ever with around 100 travel agents attending events in Busan and Seoul.

Nearly 60 hotels from nine Far East and South East Asia destinations visit Busan (1 April 2014) and Seoul (3 April 2014) next week to showcase their properties to some of South Korea’s biggest and most important travel agencies.

Organised by GTA, one of the world’s leading travel wholesalers, and led by Alex Tan, GTA’s Head of Sourcing for Asia, the fifth annual event is also the biggest ever with around 100 travel agents attending events in Busan and Seoul. Attendees will take away a dedicated brochure of participating hotels from mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

As well as a series of one-to-one meetings with agents during which hotel partners will showcase their amenities and best available rates, GTA’s sales team in Korea will lead an update on the country’s outbound travel market. GTA will also host a visit to its office in Seoul to familiarise partners with its operations.

Says Alex: “GTA has been helping hotels and hospitality operators reach customers in all parts of the world for nearly four decades. Our reputation for providing relevant and unrivalled global distribution, our financial stability and expertise helps businesses capture opportunities presented by growth markets, while gaining share in established ones. Selling 12 million room nights every year, high street and online travel agents know they can rely on us for the widest choice of accommodation for their clients in rising and already strong destinations.”

South Korea’s travel trade is increasingly booking accommodation, services, tours and activities with GTA and last year the company saw the number of room nights booked around the world rise by more than 30%. Japan has regained its number two position with the number of room nights booked with GTA almost trebling year on year. Singapore too trebled bookings in 2013, making it Korea’s third most popular destination.

China benefited from Korean outbound travel last year with the mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau all seeing year on year increases in bookings in 2013. South East Asian hoteliers joining GTA’s roadshow will also benefit from the double digit increases in room nights that GTA has booked in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.
