MGallery opens three exceptional hotels in Australia

MGallery,  Accor’s Collection  of  high-end hotels,  adds three new establishments to its network in Australia: Harbour Rocks Hotel (Sydney), The Como (Melbourne) and this week the Hotel Lindrum (Melbourne).

PARIS- MGallery, a brand of individual art-oriented hotels of the Accor Group is opening this week the Lindrum Hotel in Melbourne, the last of a recent acquisition of three new properties in Australia. MGallery is now present with six properties in the country.

Recently, the group opened the Harbour Rocks Hotel, located right in the heart of Sydney’s old district of the Rocks, facing the also famed Sydney Opera House. Since its construction in 1887, the Harbour Rocks Hotel building has served a variety of purposes. It started out as the city’s first hospital before  becoming an art gallery in 1973, and was finally turned into a hotel in 1989. The building’s red brick façade and stone wall  interiors reflect its character and singularity.

The restaurant “Scarlett” and the bar “Eric” echo the legend of an impossible love story between Eric, Merchand Seaman, who was a frequent visitor of the  hotel, and Scarlett, owner of the Cabaret next door to the Harbour Rocks Hotel.Today, Sydney’ oldest restaurant brought life again to old recipes.

Harbour Rocks Hotel and its 59 rooms incarnate the new spirit of luxury and will continue to establish its reputation as a top boutique address in Sydney.

Michael Sheridan, General Manager, comments “Joining a world famous Collection is an important step for the Harbour Rocks Hotel and a natural progression for this historical establishment. I look forward to seeing guests experience the difference.”

The Como Hotel in Melbourne is situated in Chaptel Street, in the very heart of  the fashionable district with its myriad of stores, restaurants and well-known coffee shops. Elegant and distinctive, the hotel surprises customers as soon as they come through its large entrance doors thanks to its striking contemporary design. Its 107 bedrooms and suites are exceptionally luminous and spacious,  while the magnificent interior swimming pool and the terrace in the roof are a highlight for guests.

According to Cleo Seaman, General Manager, “Joining the MGallery Collection will inject new life into this establishment,  which has been a landmark hotel for many Australians. The hotel just benefited from an extensive 12-month renovation”.

Last but not least, the Hotel Lindrum in Melbourne just joins the MGallery Collection. Located nearby theatres, museums, and Melbourne’s cultural and artistic life, the hotel offers all the charm of an intimate 59-room boutique hotel with a contemporary atmosphere. The restaurant “Felt” proposes an extensive menu card served in a comfortable and chic ambiance. The hotel name derives from its billiard room which is called after a famous Australian snooker player, Walter A. Lindrum.

MGallery will continue to expand in the Pacific area and plans to add another six hotels in 2013 in both Australia and New Zealand.
