Malaysia remains a key player in the global travel and tourism industry

Destination Resorts and Hotels heralds Malaysia’s unique, integrated and world class destinations.

LONDON – Destination Resorts and Hotels (DRH) proudly represents Malaysia at the world’s leading event for the travel industry, World Travel Market 2012, in ExCeL London. DRH, an international strategic investor and developer of premier integrated lifestyle destinations, will be at Stand AS 200 in the Tourism Malaysia Pavilion from 5–8 November 2012.

Malaysia has been well known for its natural beauty of pristine sandy beaches and lush rainforests, rich cultural heritage and myriad of culinary delights that cater to all walks of life. Its strategic location with easy access from neighbouring countries, solid economic growth and innovative infrastructure have made it one of the top tourist destinations in Asia. DRH, a master planner, investor, developer and management of destination resorts and hospitality is set to be the game-changer to the luxury travel industry, a growing market of affluent travelers.

“As a country and as a destination, Malaysia has many competitive advantages that will allow us to remain at the forefront of the global travel and tourism industry. DRH is tasked by the Malaysian Government investment arm Khazanah Nasional to develop and build world-class integrated destination resorts that will elevate the tourism landscape of Malaysia in the international arena,” says Nadziruddin Basri, Managing Director of DRH.

The international travel and tourism sector caught a glimpse of what DRH has in store with an exclusive introduction to unique, integrated and world class destinations. On the magical island of Langkawi, DRH is developing Asia’s most remarkable premier ecotourism destination, Teluk Datai. Renowned for having the most stunning view of the Andaman Sea on the island, surrounded by lush natural rainforests, Teluk Datai is currently home to the award-winning luxury resort The Datai Langkawi and the Golf Club, Datai Bay.

Internationally recognised for its world-class amenities, luxurious spas and a private stretch of white sandy beach, The Datai Langkawi was recently awarded the revered ‘World’s Best Luxury Island Resort’ at the 2012 World Luxury Hotel Awards. Adjacent to the resort, the Golf Club, Datai Bay is currently being designed and upgraded by world champion Ernie Els and is scheduled to open by 2013. The upgraded 18-hole golf course will offer the finest golfing experience nestled amongst towering tropical trees and will be the perfect retreat for avid golfers.

DRH’s key investment portfolio also includes developments in southern state of Malaysia, Johor.

Desaru Coast is poised to be the region’s first luxury integrated destination, set to open in 2015. Located on the eastern coast of Johor, it is easily accessible by land, sea or air via The Senai International Airport in Johor, or the Changi International Airport in Singapore. This multi-billion dollar destination resort that spans across 3,900 acres along a 17 km beachfront will be developed in three phases, with Phase 1 comprising 4 luxury hotels and resorts, 2 water theme parks, 2 championship golf courses complemented with golf residences, a waterfront landscaped retail and lifestyle village with a myriad of F&B and entertainment outlets, a fully equipped multi-purpose convention centre and a hospitality, tourism and culinary institution. This convergence of engaging activities makes Desaru Coast the ideal destination for the whole family, for both leisure and business.

Desaru Coast is a culmination of not just exciting attractions, but the best-in-class in the industry, as it brings together a collection of reputable and award-winning brand names, in one location. DRH has joined forces with some of the most renowned international brand names such as Amanresorts, Starwood Resorts and Hotels, Ernie Els and Troon Golf to bring a truly premier integrated destination to life.

DRH is also involved in the development of Puteri Harbour and LEGOLAND Hotel in Nusajaya, Johor. An integrated development at the luxurious waterfront of Puteri Harbour, DRH is proud to be developing a quay-side lifestyle and retail complex that houses the internationally renowned hotel brand, The Traders Hotel, adjacent to the Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park featuring Little Big Club, Hello Kitty Town, plus a themed family restaurant of popular local cartoonist, LAT. The LEGO-themed hotel, LEGOLAND Hotel is set to open its doors in 2014 and will be the fourth LEGOLAND Hotel to open worldwide and the very first in Asia.
