Tourism Queensland and DialAFlight team up to save the Koalas

In support of the Australian Koala Federation's work to protect the koalas, Tourism Queensland and DialAFlight have combined forces to create a ten-night 'Hug a Koala in Queensland' holiday package including 3 free nights.

Iconic to Australia, the koala, a marsupial famed for its relaxed, sleepy lifestyle and predilection for eucalyptus leaves, is suffering dwindling numbers with possibly as few as 43,000 remaining in the world today. For each trip booked, DialAFlight will donate £10 to the Foundation’s work with Queensland’s top koala sanctuaries to conserve the vulnerable species.

As part of the package, holidaymakers will be able to visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary, with over 130 koalas. The sanctuary recently played host to boy band One Direction as part of their Australia tour, where they met with specialist conservationists and learned to ‘cuddle a koala’ responsibly. The package also includes seven nights on the Gold Coast, famed for its laid back surfer lifestyle and over 100,000 hectares of National Parks and reserves and entry to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, including a complimentary Koala photo.
