Best Western to debut in breathtaking Bhutan

The company has signed an agreement for a brand new 41-room upscale hotel in the country’s capital, Thimphu.

BANGKOK – Best Western International is expanding its iconic brand further across Asia, with the launch of its first ever hotel in the stunning Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.

The company has signed an agreement for a brand new 41-room upscale hotel in the country’s capital, Thimphu.

Expected to welcome its first guests in mid-2015, this new-build property will join the company’s growing collection of upscale BEST WESTERN PLUS hotels.

It will feature a selection of high-end guest facilities, including a fitness centre, spa, bar, and a terrace lounge with views across Thimphu’s low-rise skyline.

Guests will be able to dine in a choice to two restaurants, including one traditional Bhutanese option with outdoor seating. The hotel will also feature a conference room with meeting facilities.

We are very excited to become one of the first major international hotel brands to arrive in this incredible country,” said Glenn de Souza, Best Western International’s Vice President of International Operations for Asia & Middle East.

Bhutan really is a paradise on Earth. Home to breathtaking mountains and glaciers, ancient monasteries, and an incredible variety of rare wildlife, this spiritual country offers an endless array of allures and attractions for lovers of nature and Himalayan culture.”

We are delighted to be able to bring our BEST WESTERN PLUS product to Bhutan, offering an extended range of amenities to the growing number of visitors wanting to explore this fascinating country,” Mr. de Souza added.

Best Western’s entry into Bhutan marks yet another milestone in the company’s Asian expansion strategy. Late last year, Best Western entered Myanmar for the first time, and already this year it has made its debut in Sri Lanka.

The opening of this new upscale hotel in Bhutan will extend Best Western’s regional coverage to more than 200 hotels in 24 countries across Asia and the Middle East.
