For the first time, a resinar (newly-coined shorthand for "research" and "seminar") will be organised at the PATA Engagement Hub on 04 July 2017 to help the Thai travel industry better tap the emerging opportunities in the Islamic world.
Thailand is located within 4 hours flying time of the largest Muslim populations including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalaam, Bangladesh, Pakistan and the massive Muslim minority in India. New markets are emerging from Iran, the Central Asian Republics and Africa.
There are more flights from the Islamic world to Thailand than any other country in Asia.
Promoting Thailand as a Muslim-friendly destination is more than just a tourism issue. In addition to creating jobs and distributing income, it meets the broader national goals of building an inclusive society and enhancing socio-cultural integration with ASEAN.
