ATHOS Ltd. is organizing the
1st International SPORT TOURISM FORUM taking place this year in Cyprus on September 27th & 28th, 2005, at the premises of the Hilton Park Hotel Nicosia.

The target is to create a new yearly institution offering a dynamic international platform to Sport Tourism professionals and academics to exchange their experience in this growing sector of the worldwide tourism development, exchange experience and create new business contacts. The Conference will give the opportunity to examine all positive effects of Sport Tourism in each country such as receiving tourists desiring to combine their holidays with physical activity / recreation, organizing sport excursions and camps for schools, welcoming amateur and professional athletes for training purposes and / or hosting (major) sport events and thus attracting tourists from all around the world enhancing the extension of the traditional local tourism season.

The dates coincide with the World Tourism Day, bringing out that Sport Tourism has been increasing significantly over the last years and further growth is expected in the future. An important number of Tour Operators from around the world have declared their attendance, while the Olympic Games of Athens 2004 have revealed more than ever the strong bond between Sports and Tourism.

The Conference is under the Auspices of the Cyprus Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Tourism and Minister Mr. George Lillikas, is expected to be addressing the opening speech.

Significant Speakers from all over the world, representing the Sport, Tourism, Academic, Business and Political sector will focus on issues, such as: Economic Effects of Sport Tourism, Sport Tourists Profile, Tourist & Sport Marketing, Sport & Entertainment in Hotels, Sport Tourism Development, Total Quality Management in Sport Tourism, Sport Tourism Future, Challenges & Perspectives, Organizing Sport Events for Sport Tourism etc.

Participants from all over the world will attend the sessions, such as Government Senior Executives and State Services, General Secretaries, Presidents, CEOs, General Managers, High & Senior Executives, Marketing Managers, Event Managers from: National Tourist Organizations, International Sport Organizations, Sport Federations and Associations, Hotel and Travel Associations, Tourist Offices and Services, Tour Operators, Sport Venues Managers, Hotel Managers, Credit Card Companies, Banks, Certification Program Organizations and more.
