The longest-running South American tour operator in Australia, Contours Travel, is coordinating a campaign to assist communities impacted by the recent forest fires in Chile.
The fires have burnt 580,000 hectares of land, claiming the homes of hundreds of Chileans.
"Contours Travel has had a long-lasting relationship with Chile", Managing Director Ted Dziadkiewicz said, "so we want to help out the families who have lost all they own to the flames."
The collected funds will go to Desafio Chile, a non-profit organisation that is handing out emergency kits, as well as rebuilding the fire station, two schools and 1000 homes that the fire consumed in Santa Olga, the most affected town of the disaster.
Although considerable, the damage is concentrated in central Chile away from tourist areas. However, as the fires have impacted many Chileans, Contours Travel is keen to assist in the recovery efforts.
The campaign concludes on February 17, 2017.
